In vitro cytotoxic activity of ginseng leaf/stem extracts obtained by subcritical water extraction
Ginseng leaf/stem extract produced by subcritical water extraction at high temperature (190°C) possess higher cytotoxic activity against human cancer cell lines than ethanol extract. Subcritical water extraction can be a great candidate for extraction of functional substance from ginseng leaves/stems.
متن کاملAntifungal activity of different neem leaf extracts and the nimonol against some important human pathogens
This study was conducted to evaluate the effect of aqueous, ethanolic and ethyl acetate extracts from neem leaves on growth of some human pathogens (Aspergillus flavus, Aspergillus fumigatus, Aspergillus niger, Aspergillus terreus, Candida albicans and Microsporum gypseum) in vitro. Different concentrations (5, 10, 15 and 20%) prepared from these extracts inhibited the growth of the test pathog...
متن کاملComparison of free radical scavenging activity of Siamese neem tree (Azadirachta indica A. Juss var. siamensis Valeton) leaf extracts prepared by different methods of extraction.
OBJECTIVE The aim of this study was to investigate the antioxidant activity of the aqueous extracts of leaves of Siamese neem tree (Azadirachta indica A. Juss var. siamensis Valeton) from several extracting and drying methods using 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH)-scavenging assay. MATERIALS AND METHODS The leaves of Siamese neem tree were extracted using percolation, decoction, maceratio...
متن کاملPhenolic content and antibacterial activity of extracts of Hamelia patens obtained by different extraction methods.
Hamelia patens, is a plant traditionally used to treat a variety of conditions among the Huastec people of Mexico. The objective of this study is to characterize the phenolic content and critically examine the antimicrobial activity of leaf extracts H. patens, obtained by maceration, Soxhlet and percolation, using ethanol as 70% solvent. Phenolic compounds are characterized by liquid chromatogr...
متن کاملTrypanocidal Activity of Oil of the Young Leaves of Nepeta cataria L. Obtained by Solvent Extraction
Trypanocidal activity was found in the volatile oil of the Young leaves of Nepeta cataria L. which has been extracted by diethyl ether and analyzed by GC and GC/MS. Four compounds in the oil of N. cataria, representing 97.53% of the oil were identified. The oil was enriched of monoterpenes with α- citral (51.95%) as the major compound. Other main compounds were β- citronellol (9.03%), geraniol ...
